Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride switches to May date

The global ride to raise money for men’s health will change from 2021, as the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride moves to a May date

Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

THE Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is to change date from 2021 onwards, with the charity fundraiser taking place in May from then on.

The move has been introduced to try and get more valuable bums on seats, with the late-spring date hopefully enticing more dapper Gentlefolk out onto the road. The ride in 2021 will take place on Sunday, May 23, 2021, hopefully opening the UK riding season up on a high and signalling an end to the dirge that 2020 has become.

Registrations for this year’s event are opening in March 2021, with volunteers up and down the country already working hard to ensure the 10th running of the event goes off without a hitch.

A statement on the DGR website reads:

“Since our inaugural year in 2012, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has run on the last Sunday of September. For 9 long years, many of us have steadfastly ridden in rain and wind; dedicated to raising funds and awareness of prostate cancer and men’s mental health.

“The new May date will open up the riding season for many of our dapper folks in the Northern Hemisphere, and those in the Southern Hemisphere will still be able to keep relatively dry and enjoy the day. This is a significant change that has been decided on due to overwhelming feedback from our riders and volunteer hosts from around the world, based on the impact that the weather has had on the safety of our events in recent years.”
