BSA owners celebrate world record in Isle of Man

The largest congregation of BSA bikes took place this week at the 2008 BSAOC Rally

AROUND 350 BSA owners made it into the record books this week, when 350 machines congregated in Laxey, the Isle of Man. It's believed the event was the biggest ever gathering of the British marque in one place.

The attempt was held during the BSA Owners' Club International Rally, which this year took place in the Isle of Man during the Manx Grand Prix practice week, says The IOM Examiner newspaper.

Event Organiser Peter Twyman said officials were counting the bikes in and he hoped the record would be confirmed for the next edition of the Guinness Book of Records.

'Over all we have 515 people here and about 350 bikes in total but not everyone came because of the rain,' said Mr Twyman.

Among the guests was ex-Space Shuttle pilot Dr James Van Hoften who had travelled over from his home in America.
