39-year old biker from Orrell fights for his life

Crash in built-up area leaves biker fighting for his life

A BIKER from Orrell is fighting for his life in hospital after crashing his motorcycle into a telegraph pole.

The man, aged 39, was riding his 750cc Suzuki along Orrell Road towards UpHolland on Sunday, when he is believed to have lost control and fallen from the bike.

The rider then crashed into a telegraph pole while the bike collided with a parked Ford Ka.

He was taken to Wigan Royal Infirmary suffering from serious head injuries. He remains in a serious but stable condition.

Orrell Road was closed to traffic coming from Orrell Post between 12pm and 4.15pm, causing heavy queues all afternoon while officers checked the scene of the accident.

Police took measurements and analysed skid marks to try to determine how the biker crashed in a built-up area.

Anyone who saw the incident is asked to contact the Area 1 Road Policing Unit at Leigh on 0161 856 7201.
