The 2026 MotoGP pre-season officially kicked off on Tuesday at the Sepang International Circuit, with all factory teams and riders on track for the first of three days of testing before the season opener in Thailand later this month.

The opening day was marked by a familiar name at the top of the timesheets with Marc Marquez making a strong return from a serious shoulder injury sustained late in the 2025 season.

The reigning champion riding the Ducati GP26, set the fastest lap of the day with a 1:57.018, claiming top spot with his best time in the closing minutes of the session - a solid return to form after months of rehabilitation and limited riding.
