Watch Vice’s documentary about a Christian bike gang

Interesting in brawling, drugs and extortion? The Disciples isn't the gang for you.

THOUGHT all biker gangs were a badass collection of waifs and strays?

Well think again because in Columbia, South Carolina, in the good ol’ U.S of America there’s a motorcycle gang called the Disciples Motorcycle Club, and its members have devoted their lives to Christianity.

Vice has just made a documentary about them, called Riding For Jesus: Inside South Carolina's Christian Biker Gang and it’s well worth a watch because of the way that the members’ religious beliefs contrast with what your typical expectations of a motorcycle gang are likely to be. The Disciples are certainly the first motorcycle gang we’re aware of that has a ‘Prayer Sergeant’.

It’s all there – the bikes, the leather, the patches, bandannas, beards and more, but the usual bike gang associations are replaced with something a bit more wholesome because members of the Disciples have kicked their lives of crime and drug taking in exchange for a life dedicated to Jesus.

It’s definitely worth a watch if you’ve got a spare 15 minutes.
