Get them while they're hot: January's best motorcycle deals

Pay day is approaching and there are some fantastic deals to be had on mototcycles in your local dealers right now - here are the best of the bunch...

It’s the New Year, a traditional time not just to look ahead to a new motorcycling year but also start considering a new bike. 

January may the time when motorcycles are tucked away for hibernation until the weather improves, but it means a raft of finance deals and offers are there to tempt you towards a new love interest… or maybe a cheeky addition to the ‘relationship’.

We’ve collected some of the best deals out there as of today on new motorcycles, buyers’ packages and soon-to-be-out of production models… but don’t forget, do shop around and find a deal that is right for you! *

Aprilia – £4400 off RSV4 1100 Factory

Aprilia is in the midst of overhauling its range amid the arrival of the new RS 660 and Tuono 660, with the RSV 4 and Tuono models also getting a refresh for the new year.

As such, it means there are plenty of dealer offers on unsold 2020 models. Dealer 3D Moto in Kingswinford is currently offering a brand new 2020 RSV4 1100 Factory for £17,975, for example – that’s a saving of £4424 on the list price. 

While Wheels in Peterborough are offering the more basic RR version for just £12,995, a £3K saving on list price.

BMW – £1800 off F800R

Premium brand BMW traditionally avoids discounting instead preferring to protect residuals by offering cheap finance deals or deposit contributions. The best of these currently are 0% finance deals on the G310R and C400X plus a £750 deposit contribution along with 5.9% finance on the F750 and 850 GS.

However, some individual dealers are offering discounted bikes for a variety of reasons, the highlights of our search being a S1000RR Sport being offered with £1000 off by Motorrad Central Scotland in Dalkeith and a new, unregistered F800R, with Dynamic and Touring packs being offered for £7989, a saving of £1816, by M&P Swansea.

Ducati – £800 off Multistrada 950

Like many premium manufacturers, Ducati prefer to offer finance incentives or accessory packs instead of price discounts, with current examples including 0% deals on its entry level Scrambler 800s.

However there’s plenty examples of dealers advertising discounted new machines for various reasons, particularly of limited edition, exclusive models. For example, In Moto of Croyden are advertising a brand new, 1299 Panigale R Final Edition, whose RRP was £34,999, for just £27,995 – a saving of over £7000!

For most of us in the real world, however, there are still the odd bargains to be had. Ducati Glasgow are offering £500 accessory vouchers with the Monster 797 while Ducati Worcester have one Multistrada 950 at the discounted price of  £10,999 – an £800 saving

Harley-Davidson – £1500 off LiveWire

The US giant rarely discounts its bikes to protect its legendary residual values and is currently offering no other financial incentives. However its revolutionary LiveWire is providing something of an exception.

Its list price is £28,995, although, with the Government’s ‘OLEV’ £1500 grant, many dealers advertise it at £27,495. However dealer Riders are going one further on 2020 examples by matching that grant figure, taking another £1500 off the price.

Honda – £4200 off Gold Wing

The Biggest of the Big Four Japanese manufacturers has a raft of new Euro5-compliant models for 2021 meaning that plenty of discounts are to be had on new 2020 or older versions. It’s also offering a variety of finance offers on selected models. The CRF1100L Africa Twin, for example, is currently being offered with a £1000 deposit contribution on 4.9% finance.

While 2020 examples of its popular A2 CB500 family are being offered with £500 off if ordered before March 31. Individual dealers are also offering significant discounts.

HGB in Ruislip are offering a top spec GL1800 Gold Wing DCT with airbag for £26,499, a £4200 saving over list and also the VFR1200X Crosstourer at just £9,999, a saving of £1500. While Wheels in Peterborough, are offering the 2020 Africa Twin from just £11,482, a saving of over £1500.

Indian – £3500 off Indian Springfield

The US Harley rival has recently announced a number of new sales incentives, including a trade-in bonus of £400 when you trade-in your bike to purchase a new Roadmaster, Chieftain or Springfield, as well as a £200 accessory contribution. However, we’ve also seen a number of significant dealer discounts being offered, including £3496 off the Springfield, at Thunder Road motorcycles, taking its price down to £18,999

KTM – £2400 off Super Adventure

The Austrian firm regularly offers a variety of ‘Power Deal’ discounts on its bikes at prime times of year and 2021 is no different. It’s currently offering £2400 off its 1290 Super Adventure S & R, £1600 off its 790 Adventure R and £1500 off the 790 Adventure, 790 Duke and 690 Enduro R and SMC.

In addition, a variety of dealers are doing their own sale with SP Motorcycles offering £1600 off the Super Duke GT bringing it down to £15,599. We’ve also seen huge discounts of over £3000 on 0-mile, pre-registered Super Duke GTs.

Kawasaki – £3100 off KawasakiNinja H2 SX SE

‘Special K’ are another of the ‘Big Four’ Japanese marques that have undergone a major range overhaul due largely to Euro5 so still have unsold 2020 new bikes. They’re also offering a variety of finance incentives, including 0% finance on all its sub-650cc 2021 models.

Yet, again, there are plenty of dealer discounts out there, particularly on its supercharged H2 bikes.

M&P in South Wales Croft are offering a Ninja H2 SX SE at just £15,995 which is a saving of around £3100) while we’ve also seen plenty of Z H2 nakeds on offer with savings of around £1500.

Suzuki – £3000 off Suzuki Katana

Like most of the leading manufacturers, Suzuki offers primarily finance incentives rather than straight discounts at this time of year, although accessory packs are popular offering on occasions.

Its current offers include a 3-year PCP deal at just 3% with only a £300 deposit on its V-Strom and SV V-twins, but there are also plenty of dealer sale prices on new bikes – if you know where to look.

Thunder Road in Wigan are offering the GSX-R1000R for just £14,299, a saving of £2848, while Bolton Motorcycles are offering the retro roadster Katana for just £8499, a saving of £3000.

Triumph – £1900 of Speed Triple 1050 RS

Britain’s own Triumph has more than a few January sale discounts, too. With the new Speed Triple coming, the current model is now being offered with a £1000 ‘customisation contribution’ plus a free quickshifter (worth £330) and clothing worth up to £500.

The Tiger 1200 Desert and Alpine are being offered with free luggage kits worth over £1500 while the standard Tiger comes with an accessory pack worth over £2000 plus there’s other accessory packs being offered across the range.

Beyond that, individual dealer discounts are few and far between, but with the new Speed Triple coming Shirlaws are advertising a brand new Speed Triple 1050 RS for just £11,699 – a £1900 saving on the RRP.

Yamaha – £2400 off Yamaha R1

The last but by no means least of the big Japanese manufacturers is also currently offering only finance incentives and free Datatool trackers but being another marque with a long list of updated 2021 models on the horizon, there are plenty of dealer discounts to be had on 2020 models.

The best we found was £2400 off the R1 superbike at Mott Motorcycles and £1200 off the current Tracer 900 GT at Charles Hurst in Belfast.
