THE truck driver who killed seven and injured many more on Father’s Day 2019 is pushing for bail prior to his trial which has been delayed due to COVID-19.
The events leading to 24-year-old Volodymyr Zhukovskyy’s arrest took place in New Hampshire last year. The Marine Jarheads Motorcycle Club were heading out for a charity ride out when Zhukovskyy’s truck ploughed into the group of motorcyclists.

Zhukovskyy’s lawyers have now filed for a motion to try and get the Ukrainian national release prior to the trial, something the prosecutors claim could lead to him fleeing to his home nation.
Just a month before the crash, Zhukovskyy was arrested in Connecticut for driving under the influence and refusing to provide a sample of breath when requested. For that alone, his commercial driver’s license should have been suspended.
The trial was supposed to take place in November, but because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it has been postponed. Zhukovskyy is scheduled to have a bail hearing this week via video-conference at Coos County Superior Court. He had made several bids now to be released on bail or personal recognizance and under conditions issued by a judge.
Aside from the risk that the defendant will flee to the Ukraine, the prosecution is also stating he has drug and alcohol use, and impaired driving going back some time.
Zhukovskyy was arrested on 11th of Mat, 2019 after police were called to a shopping centre for a man who was “acting erratically and had been revving the engine of his vehicle in the parking lot,” authorities said.
Zhukovskyy was twitching, making random movements, and was speaking in a hyperactive manner when police arrived, according to reports.
