Organisers for the 2022 Isle of Man TT have confirmed Davy Morgan has succumbed to injuries sustained in an accident during the first Supersport race, held on Monday morning [6 June].

An immensely experienced TT competitor with multiple top ten finishes - including a best finish of fifth place in the 2008 Lightweight TT - Morgan, 52, from Saintfield in Northern Ireland was contesting his 80th TT race.

However, he fell at the 27th Milestone towards the end of the final lap, just as many of the leading contenders were coming across to the Grandstand to complete the race.

Red flags were deployed to halt the remaining riders still on the course but Morgan would succumb to his injuries.

An immensely experienced TT competitor, Morgan had contested every TT held since his debut in 2002. In addition to his Lightweight TT peak, he also secured a seventh place finish in the 2006 Senior TT, while he amassed 25 top twenty TT results.

His previous performances had earned him 14 Silver Replicas and 30 Bronze Replicas. His best lap around the TT Mountain Course was at an average speed of 125.134mph which he set in the 2010 Senior TT.
