New KTM 250 Adventure confirmed in leaked document
KTM is reported to be working on a new 250cc Adventure bike that has the Asian market it its crosshairs
KTM looks to be working on a new lightweight dual-sport machine as the 250 Adventure is confirmed in a leaked presentation.
There are no details to accompany the news, just a picture of a small capacity adventure motorcycle riding along a mountain road. The wording that sits alongside the image reads: ‘Presenting the KTM 250 Adventure’.
KTM 390 Adventure
To look at, the bike looks identical to the 390 Adventure, with the bodywork, headlight, and fuel tank all looking the same as the bigger machine. The engine though is rumoured to be the same 250cc single from the Asian 250 Duke and RC250. In those bikes, the engine produces around 30bhp and 18lb-ft, although it’s safe to say the Adventure will gain a slightly different state of tune.
The bike also seems set to gain the same level of equipment as the current 390 Adventure. That means a full-colour TFT dash, and adjustable suspension. It’s not clear whether it’ll gain the same level of rider aids as the 390. Lean sensitive ABS and switchable traction control on a bike of this level could be costly in a sector that thrives on competitively priced motorcycles
The bike is almost certainly destined for a life spent on the Indian and Asian markets, and it is unlikely to make it to UK shores. Not a massive shame, we already have the 390 Adventure – which Visordown currently has on test – and a smaller bike that sits above the CBT level seems like a waste of energy.
