THE head of R&D at MV Agusta, Brian Gillen, has confirmed to Italian motorcycle website Motociclismo that the Brutale 800 and Dragster are to be revised for 2020.
In the interview, he confirms that some of the technical aspects of both bikes will be ‘revolutionised’, with a new rear linkage. He also confirms one of the prettiest nakeds on the planet will receive a new ‘front area’ and TFT dash.
The changes seem to make perfect sense for the models, which have shared the same basic platform for a number of years now. With the Dragster being the more stylised and high-spec version of the two machines.
In the interview, he also speaks about how the riders of an MV Agusta have changed over the years. Instead of wanting the pinnacle of performance and a machine that thrives on the edge, he said: “Fewer and fewer people demand a bike that works only when you go fast, everyone wants it to go well even when you go slow. And it is to these gaits that, if there are defects, everyone can perceive them.”
Sharing the stage with the new-look Brutale and Dragster at EICMA should be the final production-spec version of the company’s class-leading supernaked, the Brutale 1000 Serie Oro. A bike that we are hoping to get a chance to ride at some point over the winter. Alongside that should be the stunning looking Superleggera retro café racer, based on the Brutale 800 itself. MV has recently stated that machine will also get a non-numbered version for general release – as always we’ll bring you more information on that as we have it.
