Join Blue Monday Film Night, & The Armchair Adventure Festival

The Armchair Adventure Festival has teamed up with two motorcycle mental health charities for the event

972 BREAKDOWNS screen grab

THIS month will see The Armchair Adventure Festival and two mental health charities team up, as they hope to perk up what is known as ‘Blue Monday’.

January the 16th is the date for your diary, specifically chosen as it is statistically the dullest and most depressing day of the year. And while the road riding season may not quite be in full swing yet (for many riders anyway), those with an adventurist mindset will likely be turning their attention to what lies ahead for the coming year.

To help fire the imagination and hopefully inspire riders to begin their plans, The Armchair Adventure Festival has joined forces with two mental health motorcycle charities, Blackdog Outdoors and Mental Health Motorbike. Between them, they are screening two adventure motorcycle films, 972 Breakdowns, and The 40 Mile Birthday.

The main feature film of the night is 972 Breakdowns, a tale of five artists who know little about mechanics. It tells the story of their 43,000-kilometer journey on Ural motorcycle and sidecar outfits. The film about this epic journey has been picking up awards at adventure film festivals worldwide and takes place over two-and-a-half-years, as the crew journey from Germany to New York on retro bikes.

As a bonus, a short film called The 40 Mile Birthday will also be screened, the story of a bloke hitting his forties who wanted to check that his body still worked. Dave Cornthwaite spent his 40th birthday travelling 40 miles, each mile using a different form of non-motorised transport.

The event raised several thousands of pounds for the SayYesMore community space, the YesBus and was a great way to find adventure in Dave’s backyard on his birthday! This short should give some inspiration for those Armchair Adventurers who don’t have the time or desire to travel 43,000 miles from Germany to New York on a Ural! Dave will pop on for a Q&A after the film!

This event is only available live so clear your schedule for 6.45 PM, just sign up for your free front-row seat below, dust off your favourite armchair and get ready for a cracking night of adventure live in your living room!
