Biker uses pink beard to raise money for children’s charity

Man dyed his beard pink after losing American football bet

A biker who dyed his beard pink after losing a bet is using it to raise money for a local children’s hospital.

Steve Betters, of Maine, dyed his beard pink after losing a wager over an American football game between the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos.

Explaining why he chose pink, Betters explained his friends wanted him to dye it orange for the Denver Broncos: “I really didn’t want to wear Broncos colours, I’d rather dye it pink.”

In the spirit of ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade’, Betters launched a Facebook page called “Lemonade for Kids”.

The page shows a picture of Betters holding up a sign that says if the picture got 500 ‘likes’ by the end of the month, then he would donate $500 to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland, Maine. If it got 1000, then he would donate $1,000.

The deadline for liking the picture is 28 February and it currently sits at 2,211.
