Lorenzo: It's just a matter of time

Jorge Lorenzo's wait for a top-ten finish at Repsol Honda continues.

The triple MotoGP champion crossed the line in eleventh place at Sunday's French MotoGP, for his best result of the season so far.

While nothing to be satisfied about, the Spaniard pointed to signs of progress at Le Mans and insists 'it is just a matter of time' before things fall into place with the RCV.

"We cannot be satisfied with the final result, obviously. Eleventh place is not where we want to be, but I saw progress and this makes me happy and gives me even more enthusiasm for the next races," said Lorenzo, who began the weekend denying rumours of an ultimatum by Honda to improve his results.

"It was the first weekend I finished a day in the top five, qualified in the top eight and, apart from Qatar, which was a very slow race - which is why I finished 14-seconds from the winner - this is the race where I finished closest to the winner.

"I also set a best race lap only seven tenths from the fastest lap and started to fight with faster riders than the previous races. We’re learning more each weekend and race, it is just a matter of time.

"Thanks to the Repsol Honda Team for continuing to work hard and congratulations to Honda for 300 wins.”

Team manager Alberto Puig (who had angrily denied talk of a Lorenzo ultimatum) said of the weekend: "The positive point is the victory by Marc and that Jorge made a step in the right direction."

While Marquez leads the world championship standings, Lorenzo is 14th heading to the scene of his first Ducati victory, at Mugello, later this month.
