A HELMET signed by 12 MotoGP stars with a combined 58 world titles has sold for a record-breaking €255,000 (£200,000) at auction.

Signed by Giacomo Agostini, Angel Nieto, Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Marc Márquez, Dani Pedrosa, Wayne Rainey, Loris Capirossi, Àlex Crivillé, Wayne Gardner, Scott Russell and Randy Mamola, the helmet is now the most expensive in the world.

Spanish university student Alberto Hernandez and Oscar Haro, a member of the LCR Honda Team, had the idea of getting the AGV helmet painted in pink and then signed to raise funds for charity.

Anthony Constantinou, LCR Honda’s 2015 title sponsor, took part in the online auction and won the helmet with a €255,000 bid.

Constantinou said: ‘With so many families affected by cancer, it's important that we all join together to support the charities which provide vital services for patients and their loved ones,

‘The team has done an excellent job in raising awareness and funds. I'm pleased I could play a part in this deserving cause and I hope it inspires others to get involved in the fight against cancer.’

All proceeds are being donated to the AECC (Spanish association against Cancer) and Riders for health, a charity raising money for motorcycle transportation for health workers in Africa.
