Energica announces 2022 statistics, Experia dominates pre-sales

Energica has published financial statistics for the 2022 calendar year, which saw it increase its revenue increase by almost 70% compared to 2021.

The major seller for Energica last year was, perhaps unsurprisingly, its new touring model, the Energica Experia. The Experia accounted for 55% of Energica’s pre-sale orders in 2022, meaning the Italian manufacturer is well-placed for 2023 when it intends to increase production of its tourer.

2023 marks the beginning of a new five-year warranty for the Experia’s battery, applicable to model-year-2023 units from 1 January, while EICMA 2022 saw Energica introduce the Sport, City, and Touring add-on packs for the bike. At the same show, the brand launched the Experia for police, while in Indonesia the force ordered 88 EsseEsse9+ bikes, which has reportedly also triggered interest in other places such as the US, as well as in other Asian countries, and Europe.

Additionally, Energica has reported a 67% increase in its revenue from global motorcycle sales in 2022 compared to 2021; while orders across its range increased by 70% last year ove 2021.

The brand’s global dealer network has also now reached 135 sales points.

For 2023, Energica anticipates a year of further growth, also in part due to the introduction of Energica Inside, Energica’s e-mobility solutions division. It has secured an agreement with Soletrac, a leading US electric tractor manufacturer.

Livia Cevolini, CEO of Energica Motor Company, said: “Thanks to the great work and significant investments made with the support of our main shareholder Ideanomics – key to our development - the estimates of 2022 confirm Energica to be among the leaders of the EV market.

“This significant increase was achieved courtesy of the great feedback received in the first half of the year with the launch of the new model Experia. the world’s first purpose-built electric touring bike, which is rewriting the rules of two-wheeled electric mobility.

“Our range of vehicles are recognized both by our customers and by other companies as the best in terms of reliability, therefore the products to "beat" for our competitors. The Energica team has a unique know-how in extremely complex electric automotive engineering, enabling all high voltage battery engineering to be performed in-house. Software, firmware, hardware, and style engineering are also conducted in-house. These are precisely the reasons why Energica owners choose our products and why other EV companies are relying on us for their innovative projects through Energica inside.”
