Continental recalls several motorcycle tyre ranges for tread separation
Continental Tire have recalled a number of their motorcycle tyres for risks of tread separation, which can increase the risk of crashing.
Continental Tire have recalled a large selection of tyres from their motorcycle range.
The recall includes the TKC80, ContiGo!, K62 and LB Continental motorcycle tyres, according to Consumer Affairs.
The same outlet also reports that the reason for the recall is the chance of a crack of longer than 3/16 of an inch (4.8mm) appearing in the tread grooves. These cracks can lead to separation of the tread, which becomes a safety concern as it increases the risk of a crash.

The recall is only effective in the US, where Consumer Affairs reports that Continental will replace the recalled tyres free of charge, and recall letters will be sent to owners of recalled tyres on 6 June 2022.
Ride Apart reports that the issues with the Continental motorcycle tyres were discovered after an investigation was launched into Continental's motorcycle range due to similar tread separation issues with their ContiScoot scooter tyre. Ride Apart also notes that Continental themselves have not received any "field complaints, reports of property damage, or personal injury claims up to [29 April 2022]," when Continental decided the recall was necessary.
