For motorcycle enthusiasts, the opportunity to merely clasp eyes on some pristine, zero mile two-wheel beauties is a rare pleasure… but the chance to actually own or ride one is unheard of.
Yet later this month a selection of motorcycles from the Musee L’Epopee De La Moto in Quebec, Canada are set to go under the hammer with more than a dozen gorgeous machines from Bimota to Ducati to Harley-Davidson up for grabs.
For the record, the Museum created by brothers Francois and Jean Gagnon aims to assemble a collection of motorcycles, mopeds and scooters. They have 140 in possessions with more than 100 on display, tellingly in sections named ‘The Italian Room, The Japanese Room, The Movie Room and The Thematic Room.
In all there are 21 motorcycles up for auction at the Mecum event in Las Vegas, but seven of which are crated just to emphasise their mint condition.
Perhaps the most intriguing is a Moto Guzzi Le Mans 1000 (though there seems to be some debate over whether it’s the 1981 listed or a later generation 1987 model on offer) and a created Laverda FSC 1000 from 1986, but really there is much to drool and dream over here.
Other models to come in their original packaging include a handful of Bimotas – DB1S, YB4, SB4 – to tickle your fancy.
Though not crated, the remainder of the lots are a smorgasbord of gorgeous machinery in lovingly maintained condition, including a 1981 Ducati Mike Hailwood Replica, 1970s Harley-Davidsons and the timeless 1996 Ducati 916 Racing.
If you have a few spare tens of thousands lying around then any one of these literal museum pieces could be yours on January 21-26, but be warned… competition for these is bound to be fierce
