BETWEEN 12 and 2pm on Sunday, 9 September a group of approximately 20 men gathered in the Riverwalk Road area to attend an illegal mass motorcycle meeting. The group was then seen on local CCTV driving motorcycles in a dangerous manner.
The Met’s Road Traffic Policing Command launched an investigation that has so far meant five men have been convicted of driving offences, and one man is awaiting trial.
Officers have released images of a further seven men they wish to trace as part of the ongoing investigation.
PC Thomas Searle Brown said: “CCTV footage showed a group of men engaging in a standard of riding that fell far below that of careful, safe and competent riders.
“Dangerous driving can all too often leads to serious injuries or fatalities. Thankfully no one was hurt during this stunt but the groups' actions significantly endangered both themselves and other members of the public.
“Additionally, the motorcycles involved either displayed no or false vehicle registration numbers which indicates that they may not have been legally obtained. We continue our enquiries to establish the full facts surrounding this aspect of the investigation.
“Anyone with information on the identity or the whereabouts of the men pictured in the images we have released is urged to get in touch.”
