EUGENE LAVERTY turned in his first laps getting to grips with the Sterilgarda Yamaha R1 around Magny-Cours.
For 2011 Laverty, who finished second overall to Kenan Sofuoglu this year in World Supersport, will be making his rookie debut in superbike racing alongside Marco Melandri.
In a Twitter post Eugene likened his experience with his new team and crew to the first day at Secondary school with everyone wearing their new uniforms.
