THE Aprilia RS660 launch is just around the corner and the Noale factory has just dropped a hint that a new track-only version of the machine could be in the works.

The bike has been revealed in what seems to be prototype form by Aprilia test rider and MotoE racer Tommaso Marcon. The image was shared by the rider on his Instagram page with the accompanying text that reads ‘ COMING SOON..’.

The bike seems to be a stripped-back version of the road bike, with lights, mirrors, and number plate holder all being removed. The bike also wears a slinky looking, and no doubt naughty sounding SC Racing exhaust system running from the headers to the end can. The bike also looks to be using trick adjustable footpegs and race fairings.

With no official confirmation of the bike’s final spec, we can only guess as to the internal improvements carried out. The bike’s 100bhp engine has likely been fettled, although it’s not likely to have much more power than stock. From there we can assume the machine features a revised fork and rear shock internals, more peppy brake pads, and racy clip-on handlebars.

The announcement points to Aprilia looking to add another one-make championship to the calendar, one that sits above the current RS 250 GP series we reported on in May earlier this year.

There are rumours in the Italian press that the Trofeo one-make race series will be announced for 2021, meaning we won’t have to wait long for the full rundown of the new bike.
