THE White Helmets Motorcycle Display said farewell on Saturday with a final performance at their home at Blandford Camp, Dorset.
The Royal Signals Motorcycle Display Team marked the end of their 90-year history with a show in front of VIPs and invited guests.
Army chiefs announced earlier this year that the famous display team would be disbanded because the performance no longer reflected the modern military.
Last Wednesday the team rode through Blandford town centre to cheers, performing stunts on their 1970s 750cc Triumph Tiger T140s.
Captain Jonathan McLelland, the last team leader, told the Daily Mail: 'Being a White Helmet is a unique feeling and it's been a true privilege to perform as one - there haven't been many of us and even fewer team captains.
“For it to be coming to an end is obviously very sad but all things must come to an end and we've had a good innings.
“This is the digital age and the army don't use motorcycles to move messages anymore.
“Being a White Helmet is a hard and demanding job but I wouldn't dream of complaining, it has been the highlight of my career.
“To perform as the last riders is an honour.”
