Clearest pictures yet of the Harley-Davidson X440 revealed

Harley-Davidson India has released what we think are the clearest images yet of the new Harley-Davidson X440 A2 licence naked motorcycle

THE Harley-Davidson X440 is a single-cylinder entry-level machine, with many considering it to fall into the category of an ideal first big motorcycle for newer riders

And that’s an interesting point for Harley-Davidson, as its previous entry point into H-D ownership was a thundering V-twin cruiser with a capacity of 1,440cc!

But the new X440 is also interesting because of how the bike has come about. This isn’t a machine hewn in the blue-collar world of industrial America, it’s creation is the result of a collaboration between Harley-Davidson and some big names in the Asian automotive world. These images are the latest, and clearest yet of the new bike, and are thanks to its impending launch into the Indian market, slated for July 4th.

Hard and fast specs on the bike are difficult to come by (officially at least), although the famously leaky Indian automotive press has some fairly credible information. The bike does seem to be a single-cylinder configuration and 440cc in capacity. News18 is quoting a power output of just under 20bhp, and a torque figure of 27Nm or 19.9 lb-ft which for an entry-level single seems to be a little light on grunt - KTM’s 360 single for instance produces 43bhp from less capacity. Elsewhere on the bike, full LED lighting looks to be utilised, and the rumours from the Indian press are that Bluetooth connectivity is also included and even a TFT dash.

The new bike is going to be launching into the highly competitive middleweight naked market in India and has some very big and very established names to do battle with. Royal Enfield, Honda, Suzuki, TVS, and many more all have established a foothold in the middleweight sector, although, with a price that is expected to be around ₹207,000 (around £2,000), it’s certainly going to be one of the more cost-effective ways of getting into Harley-Davidson ownership.

We’ll be keeping an eye on the H-D India website on the 4th and will bring you all the official specs as we have them.
