After causing a head-on collision between a car and a motorcycle, a man has been sentenced to time in prison.

Nikesh Mistry, 34, of Groundsel Close, Walnut Tree, Milton Keynes pleaded guilty to two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, following a hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court on 20 December 2023. Mistry’s sentencing took place last week on 13 March, when he was sentenced to a total of four years and 10 months imprisonment. He was also disqualified from driving for the same amount of time and will require an extended retest to reacquire a licence.

The incident for which Mistry was convicted occurred on 19 November 2022, when he was driving a BMW 320i near the Walton Roundabout in Milton Keynes. Thames Valley Police says that a non-verbal interaction took place between Mistry and the rider of a motorcycle, who had pulled alongside the BMW as they entered the roundabout.

Then, Mistry swerved towards the motorcycle, and both he and the rider went into the offside of the carriageway. The rider - an unnamed man in his 40s from Oxley Park, Milton Keynes - was eventually squeezed between Mistry’s car and the metal guard railing of the bridge they were now crossing.

Finally, the rider was forced off his bike and over the railing, sustaining serious injuries when he fell into the undergrowth beneath the bridge which required him to be airlifted to hospital.

As Mistry forced the rider over the edge of the bridge, he lost control of his car and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle, which caused serious injuries to the passenger in the other car.

Investigating officer PC Phil McGlue of the Thames Valley Police Roads Policing Unit, said: “This case is an extreme example of road rage.
“Mistry was not in any immediate danger and chose to respond in a manner that was so violent and so disproportionate that he turned road disagreement into a very serious assault.

“Drivers who behave in such a manner will be rigorously investigated and held to account for their actions and Mistry will now serve a prison sentence as a result of those decisions.”
