We love a motorcycle track day here at Visordown, and it’s fair to say that when it comes to top-class places to spank a motorcycle to the limit, the UK is fairly well set to provide you with a suitable venue.
But which is the best, the creme de la creme, the big dog, and the mutt’s nuts of bike trackday venues? We might just have found out the answer. The car and bike track day provider Trackdays.co.uk has been pouring over the data and has analysed the buying habits of 1,600 users and also quizzed some of the biggest bike track day providers over the last 12 months.
And we can tell you *insert drum roll here* the most popular track day venue in the UK is… the sinuous, narrow, testing and highly addictive Cadwell Park. It’s really not much of a surprise to see Cadwell topping this list - if you’re a newbie track day rider, tackling The Mountain is a rite of passage, and more experienced riders will relish trying to get as close as they can to the Superstock bikes and CB500s that seem to rule the Lincolnshire track.
Cadwell isn’t the be-all-and-end-all though, and following closely behind it are Snetterton and Donington Park which round out the podium positions in second and third place respectively.
Weirdly, as I bloomin’ love riding there, is the fact that Silverstone barely scraped it into a points finishing position, ending up ninth in the overall standings. I’m confused by that as, while I’ll admit the vast expanses of run-off do dumb down the feeling of speed a little bit, it feels to me like the only venue in the UK where a relative novice rider can get anywhere near the limit on a latest generation 1,000cc (and up) sports bikes. It has also been hit by not doing trackdays in 2024 - and it did start to get a bit pricey compared to the smaller tracks. But there we have it, the facts don’t lie.
Rounding out the top ten just behind Silverstone were Lydden Hill and Croft in joint 10th position.
