Yamaha MT-07 Tracer – new spy shot

Touring version of Yamaha MT-07 caught on test

HERE'S a new picture of Yamaha's MT-07 Tracer, spotted undergoing tests with a pillion in Italy.

Like the MT-09 Tracer to the naked MT-09, the MT-07 Tracer is a touring version of the naked MT-07, with a half-fairing.

The new adjustable tall screen has been removed as part of this test bike's disguise but the frame it attaches to is clearly visible.

It's got higher bars than the MT-07 and the pillion appears to be holding a new grab rail, hidden by bubble-wrap.

The pillion foot-pegs appear to have been repositioned thanks to new hangers, creating more passenger leg-room. The sub-frame to which the hangers attach has probably also been redesigned and strengthened to support the panniers the bike was carrying the last time it was photographed.

An earlier picture also showed that the MT-07’s separate rider and pillion seats had been replaced with a more comfortable-looking single unit for both.

The MT-07 Tracer is expected to be a 2016 model.

Officially Yamaha has not confirmed the model's existence but sources make no secret of it. Visordown was told: ‘Yamaha has always said the MT-07 was a platform and other derivatives were coming.’

Our source said the MT-07's parallel-twin configuration and 689cc capacity were intended from the beginning to suit to a range of applications.

Visordown recently exclusively revealed that a custom-style edition of the MT-07 was due to be unveiled in mid-July.
