TOKYO MOTORCYCLE SHOW – Vyrus 986 M2 Moto2 Strada
A quick rundown of the coolest machines we saw at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show
THE VYRUS 986 M2 was originally designed as a GP racing machine and was released in 2011. Sadly for us, the idea of a hub-steering race bike, on a grid of conventionally suspended machines, never took off and the bikes were sold in 2012.
Thankfully one of the clever folks at Moto Corse had the smart idea of snapping some of the bikes up and setting them up as fully legal Moto2 machines for the road.
Powering the bike is a 599cc inline four-cylinder from the CBR600RR, which should give it a healthy but not stratospheric 130hp. Thanks to extensive use of lightweight metals, and lashings of carbon fibre, the 986 M2 comes in at a feather-weight 145kg fuelled and ready to go.
The price for all this exclusivity I hear you ask? ¥13m – about £88k!
