A group of motorcyclists has helped a terminally ill grandmother tick off a bucket list activity after letting her ride on the back of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

The group of bike fans descended on Anne Turner’s home after she asked for help allowing her to achieve her lifetime ambition to sit on a Harley-Davidson. Little did she know that the more than 50 motorcyclists from across the country would arrive on her doorstep, not only helping her to sit on a motorcycle, but they went one step further.

After she’d sat on one of the group's bikes, a helmet was handed to her and she was whisked off on a motorcycle for the first time. It may only have been a quick trip around the block, but the impression it left on the 83-year-old was plain to see.

In a video interview with BBC.co.uk, she said, “I couldn’t believe my eyes when I opened the front door. I expected one, or two, at least three bikes here.” Her daughter added how the presence of the bikes outside became felt even before they had been seen. “You felt a rumble, you heard it, and you’re like, that’s it, they’re coming. And then you felt the rumble in your stomach and the vibrations in your feet. It was indescribable to see.

Anne was taken for a brief and careful ride on a new generation Harley-Davidson Fat Bob, but the experience didn’t stop there. Anne was knighted with a Hells Angels T-shirt, inducting her into their motorcycle club. “I’m one of them now” she added.
