A MAN has been found guilty of dangerous driving and sentenced to eight years in prison after leading police on a two-hour chase in and around Luton in February.
Akeem Foster, 24 and from Luton was sentenced at Luton Crown Court this week following his arrest in February and police have released footage of the pursuit.
The police were called when he was spotted riding a motocross bike through Luton without a helmet, riding the wrong way round roundabouts, using the pavement and pulling wheelies down the wrong side of the road.
Bedford police were forced to use the police helicopter to help bring the chase to an end and called Foster’s behaviour ‘extremely reckless.’
Following sentencing, Sergeant Mark Pugh of Bedfordshire Police said:
‘Foster was caught riding in an extremely reckless manner with complete disregard for either his own safety or that of others.
‘This irresponsible and outright dangerous behaviour will not be tolerated and we are committed to tackling the issue of nuisance motorcyclists across the county.
‘I hope that this acts as a reminder to other people like Foster who think they are above the law and that they think twice before risking lives.’
