WSS Portimao testing: Lowes impresses

Reigning BSS Champ and WSS rookie tops the afternoon session

WSS ROOKIE Sam Lowes stamped his name on the first day of testing clocking the fastest time at the end of the session.

Impressing in his debut ride in the World Supersport class, Lowes, the reigning British Supersport Champion, registered a 1’45.845 to lead on-board the Parkalgar Honda CBR600RR taking the quickest time from David Salom, the Kawasaki rider lead the morning session.

Chaz Davies, on-board Cal Crutchlow's championship winning 2009 Yamaha R6 after a last-minute deal saw the ParkinGO team change from Triumph 675, joined Lowes in the top five, with Brits Gino Rea and James Ellison also featuring in the top ten.

The 2011 championship is shaping up to be a return of the axe-wielding supersport maniacs when the series kicks off at Phillip Island on the 27th February.
