Pitt out of Assen WSB

Reitwagen BMW choose to sit-out Assen World Superbike leg

FORMER WORLD SUPERSPORT champion Andrew Pitt will not take part in this weekend's fourth leg of the 2010 World Superbike Championship at Assen, after the Australian's team allegedly chose not to enter because of financial difficulties.

Pitt's team, Reitwagen BMW, have endured a bad start to the 2010 season. Pitt's team-mate Roland Resch was sidelined after the Austrian broke his the collarbone in two places during practice at Phillip Island in March. MotoGP ace Makoto Tamada stepped-in to take Resch's ride while he recovered from his injuries.

Pitt also hasn't had an ideal start to the 2010 season. The Australian has finished a lowly 15th place in three of the six races so far; team-mate Resch has finished in just one race, taking an 18th in Race Two at Valencia.
