Donington gets FIM approval

It's good to go in March for World Superbikes

DONINGTON Park has received its official homologation from the FIM, giving the Leicestershire venue the green light to host the European round of World Superbike Championship from 25th-27th March.

The FIM conducted its final circuit inspection on Friday 25th February to ensure that the revamped track meets with the organisation’s strict regulations. Major investment over the past five months brings the venue in line with other top European, Middle Eastern and Asian circuits in terms of safety standards.

Just one day before the inspection, Donington Park opened its doors for the first No Limits track day of the year. Over 200 motorcyclists enjoyed a day of riding in the early spring sunshine and with positive feedback from everyone involved, the venue is now looking ahead to the arrival of the World Superbike contingent.

“Hearing the sound of motorcycles on the track again really was something special,” says Donington Park Racing’s Chairman Kevin Wheatcroft.
