SIMON Andrews is in a critical condition following a crash at the North West 200 on Saturday during the Superstock race.
The 29-year-old came off near Metropole corner in Portrush on the fourth lap with the bike catching fire shortly after. The session was immediately red flagged and Andrews was air lifted to hospital.
Bikesportnews have reported that team boss Lee Hardy has said there were positive signs during the night as Andrews is now off life support and breathing for himself, but still in intensive care.
An official statement has now been released: "Simon Andrews' family are at his bedside in the Intensive Care unit of the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast where he remains in a critical condition following his crash in the Superstock race at yesterday's Vauxhall International North West 200."
