Seeley continues North West 200 victory run, Jessopp picks up maiden wins

Alastair Seeley maintains his record run of wins at the 2017 Vauxhall North West 200

Alastair Seeley has continued his record run of wins at the 2017 Vauxhall North West 200 as he set a new Superstock lap record on his way to an 18th victory at the historic event on his Tyco BMW.

The 'Wee Wizard' set a 122.898mph on his way to victory from Lee Johnston (East Coast Construction) and Dean Harrison (Silicone Engineering Kawasaki), but had to battle back from hitting a false neutral on lap two which forced him off the road.

Seeley has now won a race at the North West every year since his first victory in 2008. His Superstock race win was the 25th success for TAS Racing team bosses Hector and Philip Neill but wasn't without its drama.

The victory came as a key consolation after pulling out of the earlier Supersport race with a technical issue on his Gearlink Kawasaki which enabled Martin Jessopp to win on the Riders Motorcycles Triumph, marking Triumph’s first win at the event in 47 years.

Jessopp claimed victory by just 0.772s from Ian Hutchinson on the McAMS Yamaha with James Hillier third on the JG Speedfit Kawasaki.

Jessopp doubled up his opening triumph a few hours later with victory in the final race of the evening in the Supertwins event on board his Riders Motorcycles ER6 Kawasaki, winning ahead of Michael Rutter and Ivan Lintin in third.
