Dunlop proves the BMW has the power to win around the mountain course once again

IRISHMAN Michael Dunlop has shown the power of the BMW after winning the first Supersport race. RC Express Racing’s Dean Harrison took his second ever podium, whilst Bruce Anstey finished third.

There was yet another delay to the Superstock race this afternoon due to a fatal road traffic collision on the Lezayre road before the roads were due to close. The race had to be rescheduled to start for 1:45pm.

Dunlop led from the start pulling out a lead of over 20 seconds and was leading on the road by the end of the third lap of four.

Gary Johnson was close behind Dunlop on the first lap, but unfortunately on the second he crashed near the Ramsey Hairpin. Officials said he was conscious, but had fractures and was airlifted to Noble’s for further treatment.

Harrison took his second ever podium, whilst Dunlop took his second win of the week so far and his ninth TT victory overall.

Australian David Johnson took his best finish ever in fourth place whilst Manxman Conor Cummins finished in fifth despite a long pit stop after lap 2.

Lee Johnston and Michael Rutter finished in sixth and seventh respectively as newcomer Peter Hickman impresses everyone by finishing ninth in his first ever Superstock TT race. Blatantly struggling with his wrist injury John McGuinness rounded out the top ten.

Guy Martin retired on the third lap at Parliament Square, Ramsey were he was kindly given a cup of tea by some spectators to cheer him up.

A practice session was due to start after the Superstock race finished, however a serious incident on the Mountain during the race halted the rest of the schedule.

There will be more information when it is officially announced and when Superstock results and times are released.
