Yamaha boss says that each passing day reduces the chance of Lorenzo staying

Lin Jarvis says that every day the current world champion doesn’t resign increases the likelihood of a move to Ducati

LIN JARVIS has said each day Jorge Lorenzo doesn't confirm his plans for next season result in becomign more likely that the Spanish rider doesn't resign with Yamaha.

The managing director of Yamaha Racing believes that the longer Lorenzo takes to decide whether to stay with Yamaha or move to Ducati just adds more credence to the rumour that he'll be riding a red bike in 2017.

Valentino Rossi and Lorenzo both got given offers of two-year contract the day before the first race of the season in Qatar. Rossi signed immediately but current world champion Lorenzo hasn’t yet put pen to paper.

Ducati has previously tried to sign Lorenzo on several occasions and they’ve all failed but it’s now understood that the Italians have now put forward an offer that Lorenzo is giving serious consideration to, alongside the deal from Yamaha.

Speaking to Speedweek, Jarvis  made the following comments:

“I would say every day that passes since we offered Jorge the new contract reduces our prospects,” Jarvis told Speedweek. “With each additional day of the bidding which he does not decide to accept our offer it reduces our chances with Jorge to stay. And there have already been many days gone.”

Jarvis confirmed in Qatar Lorenzo has a deadline to accept the Yamaha offer but did not outline when it is.
