Pedrosa undergoes surgery on his right collarbone

Titanium plate inserted to fix the fracture in the right collarbone of the Repsol Honda rider

AFTER much contemplation about his options regarding surgery and listening to the advice of doctors, Dani Pedrosa has decided to undergo surgery to repair his broken right collarbone sustained in the crash with Marco Simoncelli at Le Mans.

Pedrosa's operation will be conducted by the same medial team at the Teknon Medical Centre in Barcelona, where surgeons Dr. Joaquim Casañas and Dr. César García-Madrid removed the plate from the left collarbone to decompress the subclavian artery.

The operation took place today at midday, as a titanium plate was inserted to fix the fracture in the right collarbone. Following medical checks, the Repsol Honda rider will be discharged from hospital and in the next week he is expected to begin passive rehabilitation.

Dani's participation in the Grand Prix of Catalunya remains uncertain.
