MotoGP: Kenny Roberts to run Moto2 team in 2010

Former 500cc champ plans two-rider line-up using chassis designed in England

FORMER 500CC World Champion Kenny Roberts Snr. will be back in competitive racing in 2010; this time as the head of a new Moto2 team.

Roberts is undoubtedly fired up over the new project, planning to recommission chassis building equipment, which became redundant at the end of 2007 when Robets pulled the plug on his Honda-powered MotoGP team. Speaking to Cycle News, Roberts said:

"We still have a skeleton crew and we still have the equipment in England to build a chassis, but I'm not sure where. We'd certainly design it in England, but probably build it somewhere else. That's yet to be determined."

What sort of riders will Roberts be employing in his newly-formed team?

"I'd like to get a couple of young American riders. Getting them young enough or late enough so they can win. We want to be up front, because it's rough selling if you're not up front."
