Mamola: ''Moto2 is incredible fun''

Former Grand Prix race winner tests the latest breed of competition racer and declares the concept a success

FORMER 500CC Grand Prix front runner Randy Mamola has tested the BQR-Honda Moto2 and has heralded the new machine a success.

The racer-turned-tv pundit claims the new breed of machine is much sharper than Supersport 600 series, thanks to the custom-made chassis design.

Writing for Spanish website Motociclismo Mamola says:

"I can confirm the new Moto2 are incredible fun. The exhaust sounds like a Formula 3 - it's so intoxicating."

Mamola continues: "It's very difficult to compare these machines to anything else when you're in a new circuit, but I found the bike very easy to understand.

"Compared to a World Supersport bike, you could say this feels like a real racing bike. A Supersport machine is less sharp simply because the chassis was designed for street use. In Moto2 the chassis is designed for circuit. The bike is completely 'Grand Prix'.

"The great thing about Moto2 is that the machines let you get closer to the limit without being on the edge all the time, unlike the 250cc two-strokes."

Earlier, Visordown gave you the heads-up that former 500cc World Champion Kenny Roberts Snr. is to start his own Moto2 team.

It looks like the new, once-maligned race series is shaping up into quite an event.
