Lorenzo joins Agostini and Doohan in GP record books

Fiat Yamaha finishes either first or second at the opening 10 premier-class GP races of the year

JORGE Lorenzo has joined GP legends Giacomo Agostini and Mick Doohan by becoming the third rider in the 62-year history of Grand Prix racing to finish either first or second at the opening 10 premier-class GP races of the year.

With 33 Grand Prix victories across all three classes since he started racing, Lorenzo now has the greatest number of premier-class wins ever achieved by a Spanish rider in a single season, taking the record from former Repsol Honda man Alex Criville.

Criville won six GPs on his way to taking the 1999 500cc title.
