Guintoli in for injured Capirossi

Pramac draft Guintoli for the next two rounds as Iannone joins the Frenchman in testing at Mugello today

SIDELINED by injuries in a practice crash for the Dutch TT Loris Capirossi will be substituted in the Pramac Ducati team by Sylvain Guintoli.

The Frenchman returns to the Ducati squad, for which he raced for in 2008, as July proposes a busy month for the WSB rider with Guintoli competing over four consecutive race weekends, swapping his Effenbert 1198 for the Desmosedici GP11.

Testing the Desmosedici at Mugello today, Guintoli is getting a feel for the Italian machine before the next race at Sachsenring in two weeks time.

Moto2 rider Andrea Iannone will join in the private test as Pramac Ducati have offered the Italian a trial on the GP11 Ducati. The rider offers Iannone an opportunity to sample one of the prototype machines from the premier class, whilst Ducati gain a subtle assessment of the Italian as a potential consideration for the future. He is expected to step up to the top flight category with his own Speed Master CRT bike next season.

Capirossi has been ruled out of the next to races diagnosed with two broken ribs and a dislocated right shoulder. Should he come back before the injuries have fully-healed it could have put the veteran's life af risk as there was fear 'that the bone can come in contact with organs and cause serious damage' said Pramac technical director Fabiano Sterlacchini.
