Elias fined for breaking no test rule

Moto2 Championship leader falls foul of testing ban

MOTO2 championship leader Toni Elias has been fined 3,000 euros and banned from the first free practice session after his team broke the no-testing rule during the mid-season break.

The Spaniard had tested at the Gresini team’s home track last Sunday. Fair play to the team for actually putting out a press release about Elias' progress, but their honesty cost them dearly.

“I take full responsibility for this error,” said team owner Fausto Gresini, himself a former double World Champion.
