Edwards: Tech 3 MotoGP win a possibility

"When you look at the speed charts, we're right there"

TECH 3 YAMAHA man Colin Edwards thinks he and new team-mate Ben Spies are in with a chance of notching up their team's maiden MotoGP race win this year thanks to the upgraded machinery from the Yamaha factory.

The American duo, who have been strong in pre-season testing, reckon the gap between their machinery and the factory Yamahas of Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo will now be closer, partly thanks to the new long-life engines.

"Basically, this year probably would be the closest they've ever been," said Edwards. "I'm not saying the bikes are exactly the same. But I think they're a lot closer than they've ever been.

"When you look at the speed charts, we're right there. Everybody's running good. I think all 18 bikes are running within 4km/h or something like that. I think it's a good thing.

"The six engines all year, I think it's evened out the amount of power you can actually put out and keep the thing together."

And in true nice-guy style, Edwards says he doesn't mind if Ben Spies claim's the team's first MotoGP win:

"I would love to say it's going to be me," said Edwards. "But if Ben does it, I'm not going to be disappointed."

What a lovely bloke.
