Checa testing Rossi's Desmosedici

Reigning WSB champion lapping Jerez on the Ducati Desmosedici GP12

REIGNING WSB champion Carlos Checa is currently at Jerez running a shakedown test of the Ducati Desmosedici GP12.

The Spaniard is joined by Ducati's MotoGP test-rider, Franco Battaini, and the pair are spending three days at the Spanish circuit to evaluate the new 1000cc machine.

It is the first test for the bike, which according to Ducati Corse general manager Filippo Preziosi is '90% new'.

The Jerez test is completely private for the Ducati MotoGP team and is an opportunity for the Italian manufacturer to test the new and previous bikes back-to-back.

No official pictures or information have been released, but following the test yesterday Checa Tweeted a short message: “1st test this year recovering good feelings on bike, we are working well. I can't say so much, tomorrow more work. Ciaoo!”

Ducati's full-time riders, Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden, will get to the new GP12 at the Sepang test on January 31st.
