Cox out at BBC MotoGP?

Paddock rumours link BBC presenter to Formula 1 in 2011

BBC MOTOGP pundit Charlie Cox could be leaving the series following paddock rumours the portly Australian is heading off to commentate on Formula 1 in 2011.

The news, fed to Visordown by our MotoGP man, has said the BBC is to axe the corporation's current voice of F1, Jonathan Legard.

It's believed Legard has gone down like a dog-turd sandwich with BBC F1 viewers, proving even more unpopular than predecessor James Allen.

Although experienced and often quite witty, Cox has failed to gel with UK MotoGP fans; his touring car background and lack of general motorcycle racing knowledge has often been all too obvious is many of his performances.

Last year we predicted Cox was to leave the BBC at the end of 2009. We now admit, hands up, we were wrong.

If Cox does disappear back to four wheels then it remains unclear who's in line to step into the Australian's shoes.
