MotoGP: Toseland to ride for Yamaha in 2008

Shock move as Toseland signs for Tech 3 Yamaha

BRITAIN'S James Toseland has confirmed that he'll be riding in MotoGP next year - for Tech 3 Yamaha.

No-one expected Toseland to sign for a satellite team, but that's exactly what the current leader of the World Superbike Championship has done.

Tech 3 are known as being also-rans in MotoGP but this is widely believed to be their tyres rather than the bike and in 2008, the team will make a switch away from their current Dunlop setup and will also have full Yamaha factory backing.

Toseland was rumoured to be in talks with Ducati and Honda earlier in the season. Last weekend, Toseland and Kiyonari were team mates at the Suzuka 8-Hour, riding for Honda, but Toseland crashed after just a few laps - leading many to speculate that a MotoGP ride with Honda would no longer be on the cards.

The Tech 3 Yamaha team have said that securing Toseland is a "major coup" for their championship challenge.
