MotoGP: Stoner takes Laguna Seca pole

Ducati confident after Stoner's blistering pace

CASEY Stoner dominated every single session at the US Laguna Seca MotoGP. The championship leader notched up his third pole position of the season.

Stoner dominated the session and was only topped temporariliry by Rizla Suzuki's Chris Vermeulen and Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa.

Stoner took pole with just one minute to go and then, just inside the cut-off time, took another tenth out of his best time.

Pedrosa starts from second place and Vermeulen completes the front row. Hayden, who won here last year, qualified in fouth and Valentino Rossi took fifth, despite a crash in qualifying.

New comers, Roger Lee Hayden, Duhamel and Davies took 16th, 19th and 20th respectively.
