MotoGP: Repsol Honda Laguna Seca preview

Team press release issued before Laguna Seca

The Sachsenring showed the best side of the Repsol Honda riders once again, with Dani Pedrosa on top of the podium and showing what he can do to his laggard rivals, whilst his team mate Nicky Hayden was also on the podium. For the Spanish rider his victory in Germany had a very special taste. But he has no time to digest everything that happened because the race at Laguna Seca is in a couple of days. Pedrosa hopes to win there and to get victory number 300 for Iberian riders.

The German track suited Pedrosa down to a tee, he showed that he is back in form and a dangerous rival who has got back tio winning ways. His victory last weekend was number 299 in the history of Spanish riders at the top level of motorcycling.

Now the Repsol Honda rider has set himself a new objective for Laguna Seca: to enter the Spanish racing history books by getting victory number 300 in the history of this sport in Spain.

Pedrosa crossed the finishing line at the Sachsenring 13 second ahead of the second placed rider, Loris Capirossi, the biggest difference ever on a dry track. Moreover, the Spaniard got his victory number 26, the same one as on his bike.

Laguna Seca will come at the best time for him as Pedrosa is clearly on the up, and he will have the incentive of being able to cut the gap on the out of form Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner, the two riders ahead of him in the classification. In spite of everything he will be hard pushed to beat his team mate Hayden. Another rider who is getting back into form and recovering the good sensations that took him to the world title last season.

Hayden knows the track in America like the back of his hand, where he will want to get a hat trick of wins, since he has won there the last two years, although Pedrosa had one of his best races there in 2006 -- he finished second -- giving a one-two to the Repsol Honda team. What is clear is that at Laguna Seca there will be a great race, with the two Repsol riders only after one thing: a victory.
