STAGE TWO of the 2017 Dakar Rally ran from Resistencia to San Miguel de Tucuman and the first fast and long stage of this year's race was convincingly won by Australian rider and 2016 winner Toby Price.
His victory means he’s secured himself a lead over three minutes on his nearest rival, Honda rider Paulo Goncalves.
As well as being second in the overall standings, Goncalves also finished second yesterday, with fellow Monster Energy Honda team mates Joan Barreda and Ricky Brabec both claiming spots inside the top 10 , although it was a close call for Barreda, who had a near miss with a cow.
Yamaha rider Xavier de Soultrait put in a solid performance with the day's fourth best time. Red Bull KTM factory rider and Brit Sam Sunderland also had a strong showing to claim fourth.
