All official Kawasaki teams competing across the classes in the 2020 British Superbike Championship will become known as Massingberd-Mundy Kawasaki as part of a huge title sponsorship deal, it has been confirmed.

In an unprecedented move, the sponsorship has been designed to create more unity among the Kawasaki representatives in BSB with bikes wearing the Massinberd-Mundy banner across five different teams competing in Superbike, Supersport, Superstock and Sidecar classes.

The company, which has had a smaller presence in the series for some years now, is best known for its Massingberd-Mundy Lincoln Red Beef, with this deal set to form the basis for promotion of its collection of dry gins from 2020.

At the top of the pile, FS-3 Racing toasts its promotion to official Kawasaki support status in the 2020 BSB Championship with its first title backer, allowing it to swell to two Kawasaki ZX-10RRs next season for Title Showdown contender Danny Buchan and Superstock graduate Lee Jackson.

Kawasaki’s British Supersport Championship representation will be headed up by veteran team Gearlink Kawasaki with James Westmoreland and Ben Currie, with MSS Performance running Chrissy Rouse and Tom Ward.

The Affinity Sports Academy will run in the Junior Superstock series with Eugene McManus, Kade Verwey and Luke Verwey, plus the British Junior Supersport series with Owen Jenner, James McManus and Ash Barnes. The Savage Spanner Racing Sidecar team enters Ricky Stevens/Ryan Charlwood and Ben Holland/Jed Pilmoor-Brady.

Designed to create a more defined career ladder within the Kawasaki ranks, Massinberg-Mundy Kawasaki effectively goes in direct competition with Paul Bird Motorsport Ducati, whose family owns poultry farms in Cumbria, on and off track.

“I’ve been involved in British motorsport for many years both as a fan and a sponsor through my various business interests.,” Jon Thornes, Custodian of South Ormsby Estate, home of Massingberd-Mundy

“Being able to support the teams and their riders at every level of the British Superbike Championship, from the juniors to the premier class, is hugely rewarding. I think we have a championship-winning team and I looking forward to seeing what 2020 will bring.

“I’m also pleased to be continuing my long-standing relationship with Kawasaki UK and combining my two passions – motorsport and local Lincolnshire produce. Both are synonymous with quality and have a long and respected pedigree.”
