Hickman kicked from Kawasaki BSB

BRITISH Superbike rider Peter Hickman has been given the sack from the MSS Bathams Kawasaki British Superbike team.

Hickman stood in for the injured John Hopkins on the Crescent Fixi Suzuki in World Superbikes at the weekend and in doing so, he's angered MSS team owner, Nick Morgan and lost his ride in BSB.

Morgan said: “I have always believed that an agreement – whether in written form or even a handshake between two parties – is binding and, in my opinion, implies a high degree of mutual respect. In breaking this, we regard our agreement as void. We will now actively look for a replacement rider to compete alongside Michael Rutter to continue to give the Ninja ZX-10R good results and exposure. As a team we wish Peter every success for the future.”

Hickman scored a DNF and a 9th place at the Donington World Superbikes round, his first time on the Suzuki. Team mate Leon Camier scored a 9th in race one and a 4th in race two.

Nick Morgan's approach may look stern however it could be due to the fact he's seen riders like Lowes and Buchan step-in for riders in World Superbikes and come away with injuries that have stopped them competing back in BSB.

It's not clear whether Hickman will continue to stand-in for injured Hopkins.
